What this tool calculates
Recipe costing converts purchased pack costs into the cost of ingredients used in a batch. Dividing the batch cost by its serving count gives ingredient cost per serving. This tool handles two ingredient entries, each with its own purchase and usage quantities.
How to use recipe cost per serving
- For each ingredient, enter pack cost and pack quantity from the same purchase basis.
- Enter the amount used in the recipe using the same unit as the pack quantity. Convert kilograms to grams first if needed.
- Enter the whole-number serving count, then calculate ingredient costs, batch cost and cost per serving.
How the calculation works
Ingredient use cost = pack cost × quantity used ÷ pack quantity. Total recipe cost = sum of ingredient use costs; per-serving cost = total ÷ servings.
Worked example
A ₹500 pack of 1,000 g used at 200 g costs ₹100 in the recipe.
Understanding the result
The two ingredient rows cover only the costs you enter. Other ingredients, cooking loss, labour, energy and packaging are not added automatically. Record usable yield consistently: purchased weight and edible weight can differ after trimming or cooking.
