What this tool calculates
Table turnover counts dining parties served relative to tables available during one stated period. This tool divides parties by tables and, when operating hours are entered, calculates parties per table per hour. It does not calculate cover turnover or average party size.
How to use table turnover calculator
- Name the reporting period, such as dinner service or one operating day.
- Enter available tables and dining parties served during that same period.
- Optionally enter operating hours to calculate an hourly rate. Keep a consistent counting policy when parties use combined tables.
How the calculation works
Parties per table = parties served ÷ available tables. Hourly rate = parties served ÷ (tables × operating hours).
Worked example
72 parties served across 12 tables gives 6 parties per table for the selected period.
Understanding the result
A party occupying more than one table needs a consistent counting policy. Table size, combined tables, closures and service duration affect interpretation. This tool does not calculate occupancy percentage or prescribe a target turnover rate.
